Dear friends! Could you be so kind to help me. I’m Russian journalist and now I’m trying to write the review for Ardecore “Arcdecore” (Il Manifesto). Hope, lots of visitors of this community knows what it is. The problem is I can’t find any info about this release on English… Please, could you give me the link for English press-release or any review, or something else…
Deep thanks, Lisichkin

hey i was wondering if anyone knew if and when karate was coming back to play some shows in the states (preferably boston, etc). if anyone has any info on this let me know, i kept missing karate everytime they came around because of my job, but i have some more free time now, i hope i can see them play whenever they go back on tour. anyways, if you're talking about songs and their duration time, i think today or tommorrow is a great song because of its length. slow and short, it doesn't get any better.

In The Fishtank is an ever ongoing project of Konkurrent, independent music distributor in the Netherlands. In this collection Konkurrent invites musicians to whom they feel strongly related to record. They are given two days studio time and freedom to do whatever they like musically. The Fishtank offers a space for expression and experimentation, results may vary but are always surprising.

from the southern records mailing list:
KARATE have been resting from their successful, yet taxing USA and Japan tours last Fall supporting their 7th full-length release, "Pockets". Thank you everyone, who went to their shows!
On November 2nd, Geoff Farina appeared on NPR's "Talk Of The Nation". If you missed it, listen here http://www.npr.org, click on "Talk of The Nation", "Past Shows", "November '04".
They're heading overseas early February for a month of touring, then back over April-May for more.
Visit www.geofffarina.com, www.gavinmccarthy.com and www.southern.com/karate for more information.

anyone going to any of the overseas shows? i would love nothing more than to see them live in europe. it seems like they have a bigger "following" over there, or at least it seems like people appreciate their music more. i don't know. i love them.

a few days ago i bought a karate bootleg. it is perfect:
concerto al Barchessone Vecchio 24 02 2002
the songs:
one less blues if you can hold your breath number six* the roots and the ruins in hundreds there are ghosts the same stars the angels just have to show
i also have a video tape of geoff farina 11/14/01 in MA... first he plays 5 solo songs, then karate plays together for awhile, then jodi comes out and they play a few secret stars songs. it's great sound quality. if anyone wants to know the specific songs let me know.
i am looking to trade tapes of shows or live recordings/bootlegs... if anyone has anything or is interested please contact me!! (aim: optionfour)

I saw karate in Providence and Boston on this past tour. I want to know what the two songs they played that I didnt recognize were. Theres one that they played at both shows after caffeine or me when they're all improvising and then geoff just bangs one chord over and over until they all come together and they play an upbeat indie song. The other song came either before or after cobbs creek parke and it starts with lyrics something like "its black not white, its brown not yellow, its what i taste" or something like that. People seemed to get into those songs so i thought they be covers. get back at me.

this was posted as a comment in the geoff on npr entry.
"To any Karate fans in Japan: Southern Records mistakenly listed the November 25th Karate show as being at Tsurunami KD. The correct locale is Tsurumai KD Japon. It has been updated on their website: http://www2.odn.ne.jp/kdjapon/"

For Immediate Release:
KARATE'S GEOFF FARINA TO APPEAR ON NPR ON ELECTION DAY
Geoff Farina, singer/songwriter behind indie/jazz/rock outfit Karate, will be appearing and performing on NPR's "Talk of the Nation." The broadcast, with host Neal Conan, will air at approximately 3:40 EST on Election Day, this Tuesday, Nov 2. Geoff's appearance will include an interview and performance of some of the band's most recent material, from their Sept 21, 2004 release, "Pockets," on Chicago's Southern Records.
"Pockets" is Karate's 7th full length album in their 10 year history as a band. It is their strongest, most synthesized effort yet, combining Karate's post punk-sensibility, masterful, jazz-influenced musicianship, sensitive, intellectual lyrics, and love of a good pop/rock hook.
Geoff Farina has been involved in the arts in myriad ways most all of his adult life. He was a founding member of influential DC outfit Secret Stars, and founded a Rhode Island artists' retreat, The Grange Hall, with fellow Secret Star Jodi Buonnano. Geoff has also scored films and played with Jazz ensembles, as well as writing about music and recording for Portland's famed Tape Op magazine. More information about Geoff at http://www.geofffarina.com/.

How does everyone lile the new album? I spent my last few dimes on it the other day.
And another thing, seeing that I am from RI, I am mystified that Karate is not more a part of the local music scene. Just a thought.
